Why the Puvee name?

Many folks have asked over the years why we use the Puvee name on some of our does, so I thought it appropriate to tell the story behind the name.  When we purchased our first FB Boer buck XS African Abner, we only had a couple of full blood does along with several brush goats.  The brush goats weren't much when compared to the present herd but we loved them all the same.  The Puvee line started with a tall and skinny Spanish dairy cross doe.  The first kid from the cross with African Abner was never registered but she was a nicely made doe with lots of thickness and good bone.  The second cross was produced using Gatwood Farm's Tot-Man on the offspring and that doe kid was CSF Luanne Puvee (Gomer's ficticious girl friend) on the Gomer Pyle Show.  I was a huge fan of that show BTW!!  Anyway, every daughter out of that line gets the infamous Puvee name attached.  They are among our most favorite percentage lines on the farm.  Even though we've sold two or three from the line we can't help but hold onto a fair share for ourselves.

CSF Bella Donna Puvee 75% Boer      DOB: 02/07/04 Sire: CSF Tomahawk  Dam: CSF Luanne Puvee Bred by: Chestnut Springs Farm Bella Donna is very wide and square with excellent length and a lovely long neck!  She was shown in Harrisonburg, VA in 2005 and placed 1st in a large class of top quality does.  Belladonna is another of CSF Luanne's line of outstanding offspring. Her offspring are awesome!

CSF Pataloon 75% Boer DOB 12/18/2002 Sire: Lewis Creek Keon Dam: CSF Pata Mae Bred by: Chestnut Springs Farm Pataloon is an awesome doe!  Not only has she placed well in the showring her offspring have consistantly placed very high as well, giving her many points toward ABGA's Doe of Excellence Award. Her daughter CSF Pussy Galore won Over-All Grand Champion Percentage doe WV State Fair 2008. Also CSF Skylark has won several grand and reserve grand championships over the years! Pataloon won Grand Champion Percentage doe at June's Wooster, Ohio show. We are very proud of Pataloon.

Luanne placed first in her class at the 2002 Cleveland County Fair in Shelby, NC. She possesses width, angulation, great muscling, and length. Luanne has put some very nice kids on the ground for us!

CSF Miss Bunny Fullblood Boer     DOB: 04/04/99  Sire: XS 215 African Abner  Dam: KM Konnie  Bred by: Chestnut Springs Farm  CSF Miss Bunny was the first doe produced by KM Konnie. Like her dam, Miss Bunny has been an excellent producer and would be considered an asset to any breeders herd.

CSF Peach Melba 50% Boer DOB 4/01/01 Sire: XS African Abner  Dam: Kismet Kallie Sue  Bred by: Chestnut Springs Farm Peach Melba is a 50% doe but comes from a line of large framed Nubians that were bred for heavy milk production. She sports a beautiful head and roman nose, lots of length, and stands very square on her feet.  Melba has given us many beautuful offspring with excellent milking capacity!

Meadowlark did very well in the three shows she attended in 2006 making the cut each time.

Daisy is best described as deep, wide, long and square. Daisy was placed Grand Champion Senior Doe and Overall Grand Champion Doe at the 2000 Lancaster, Ohio Boer Goat Show. Daisy sports a long list of impressive names such as, Ubora, Lobola, Tsjaka and J70 in her pedigree.

 

CSF Drambuie Fullblood Boer     DOB: 12/12/03  Sire: JMP R76 CSF Tomahawk  Dam: Downen Daisy May  Bred by: Chestnut Springs Farm  CSF Drambui was an overall quality doe that stands square and strong on her four feet.  She is long and wide, yet feminine.  Her last daughter out of Lewis Creek Keon was a real keeper.

 

KM Konnie Fullblood Boer      DOB: 3/05/98 Sire: Magic Mojo Dam: Easter Bunny  Bred by:  N&K Ranch, Norman Kohls Konnie is probably one of the nicest Does I've ever laid eyes on and is very deep, long and wide.   Konnie has a very impressive pedigree, and always throws beautiful kids! Her offspring are always in the front of the line at shows!  Take a look at CSF Nozomi, CSF Moonshine, CSF Miss Bunny, CSF Magi, CSF Mona Lisa and CSF Polly Ester. Konnie throws her length and great breed standards, and is consistent in doing so!

 

CSF Pata Mae  50% Boer    DOB: 12/04/00  Sire: XS 215 African Abner  Dam: Spanish  Breeder: Chestnut Springs Farm CSF Pata Mae is a great example of the importance genetics play in a breeders herd. Although Pata Mae is only a half blood Boer she displays many of the necessary traits needed to produce breeding quality Does for today's meat goat industry. Pata Mae quickly proved herself as a production doe when producing an outstanding show wether her first time kidding.
