a Khimo Kid
Our dear friend and goat lover, biochemist, Dr. Joyce Foster, enjoys a special moment with CSF Chimo's Kizzy, one of the many beauties born in December of 2002 at Chestnut Springs Farm.

We participate in meat goat training programs offered by Joyce and her colleagues at the USDA, Agricultural Research Service, Appalachian Farming Systems Research Center in Beaver, WV.

Bloom, our llama, and other animals from Chestnut Springs Farm participate yearly in a Live Nativity Scene.

Bloom

Bloom (above) is an excellent example of wool type for a guard llama.

Llamas have a natural distrust of canine and other animals that do not 'live' in their pastures. Their curious and cautious nature makes them investigate any new creatures. When llamas think something or someone is intruding in their territory they chase the intruder from the pasture.

Our Little Hen House

We converted an old corn crib into a perfect little hen house,

complete with nesting boxes which are accessible from the outside.

The front section just under the windows have henged doors which allow the boxes to be

opened and eggs gathered from the front of the house.

On Guard Our very first rescue. This is Snow, a beautiful boy who was on his way to be put down due to aggression issues.

Snow was raised indoors and made it very clear to his owners that he was not happy with his living conditions. Snow is now the happiest dog on the face of the earth living with the livestock of Chestnut Springs Farm!  He is also an outstanding guardian!  If ever in need of a nice LGD rescue please visit: http://www.agprescue.com/index.html and fill out the neccessary application.  We usually always have some very nice LGD prospects available.

War Paint is Chad's awesome APHA gelding.  He is everything and more than I ever expected in a horse!  He just turned 3 in May, 2006 and has better sense than most.

I'd like to thank Angela Dillon of Princeton for taking the time to work with War Paint and for making him the great horse he has become....

Local artist Brian Aliff painted this beautiful portrait of War Paint (above) on peacock feathers.  He has a number of paintings available for sale at this time.  If you would like your pet or favorite photo painted on either turkey or peacock feathers, you can contact Brian at the following email address:  [email protected]  or call (304) 325-6970

Brian is a very talented artist!
