  CHESTNUT SPRINGS FARM

Where we began in 1995, where we are, and where we plan on going.
We began with AFRICAN ABNER as our herd sire. Abner was indeed a good choice! We found that the Boer goat was relatively hard to come by in this particular area especially top quality Boer Goats.

African Abner came to us from MD Shurley Ranch in Texas. Abner is sired by Rodman. Abner has consistently thrown hardy kids, with lots of width, great horn set and as square as square can be. Abners only draw back has been his lack of length. That's where Tot-Man comes in. Tot as we refer to him came to us from Billy and Patricia Gatwood of Gatwood Farms in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. Tot is sired by Hot-N-Tot, his grand sire is the infamous Hoot.  We were very sad to hear that Hoot lost his life. His legacy will certainly live on thru his excellent offspring.

Now let's talk a bit about our Does. When we first started purchasing our does we were very lucky to get KM Konnie from Norman Kohl's ranch in Texas. If you are not familiar with Mr. Kohl's animals I will tell you that his goats are as long as long can be. Konnie is a lovely doe to say the least! Konnie has kidded three times so far and has given us near perfect kids everytime. By the way, Konnie's bloodline is quite impressive too, with names like Mojo Magic, Magic Mojo and Kaptien!

Then there's Daisy May from Ewing and Donna Downen's Ranch in Early, Texas. Daisy was a dream come true for us as she is so near perfect! Daisy consistently places very high in shows, winning Grand Champion Doe and Senior Grand Champion in Lancaster, Ohio in May of 2000. She is a real show off. Daisy is one of those goats that keeps her weight on whether she's going to a show or just grazing around the farm and raising her gorgeous kids. See them for yourself under " photos of Daisy's kids".
